When I am grocery shopping, I stick to the outer isles of the market because that is where all of the "healthy" food is located. The deeper you venture into the aisles, the more likely you will be meet with food that is not the best for you. I am big consumer of produce and although I love my international farmers market for pricing and variety, I am not always able to shop there. My next favorite place to shop for my produce and other items is Walmart.
This may surprise you but Walmart has a selection of locally grown produce, great prices and healthy options. I want to share with you my latest grocery haul. I was armed with a $100 giftcard and after completing my list, I only spend $87! I purchased organics, locally grown produce and healthy choice items more inexpensively than at my local market. In my photos you can see some of my spread but to get the full picture check out my grocery haul video below.
As you can see, I was able to acquire a variety of healthy items at Walmart and this is just a sampling of what is available and you might be surprised. On my last trip to Walmart I purchased almond flour (I try to avoid wheat and gluten whenever I can) and this is something I generally have to go to a health food store for and was pleased I could purchase it at Walmart. Take your healthy shopping list to Walmart and see how you fair, I bet you won't be disappointed!
